Rosário Monteiro is a CINTESIS researcher working in the HealthForAll group, TL1 – Preventive Medicine & Societal Challenges.

She graduated in Nutrition Sciences from the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto (FCNAUP) in 2002 and received her Ph.D. in Human Biology from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) in 2007. In 2014, she completed the Integrated Master in Medicine in the same institution, where she also developed post-doctoral research in collaboration with INSERM from 2008 and 2014. She was a researcher at the Center for Pharmacology and Chemical Biopathology, I3S, and started a collaboration with CINTESIS in 2019.

She is a specialist in General Practice and Invited Assistant Professor with Aggregation at FMUP. In teaching and research, she is interested in the areas of Preventive Medicine and Lifestyle, Nutritional and Metabolic Medicine. She collaborates with the European Network for Prevention and Health Promotion in Family Medicine and General Practice (EUROPREV) since 2019 and is the liaison person for the collaboration between this and the European Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (ESPEN). Since 2020 she is a member of the board of the Portuguese Society of Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (SPNCM). She is also a member of the Ethics Committees of the FMUP and FCNAUP and collaborates with the Program for the Promotion of Healthy Eating of the Directorate General of Health.
