She has a degree in Psychology and a Ph.D. in Health Psychology from the University of Minho (2001 and 2013, respectively). She completed postgraduate studies at the Portuguese Institute of Applied Psychology/Bangor University (2017) and at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom (2018). She carried out an internship in the clinical setting at King’s College School of Pharmacy, London, under the supervision of Professor Emeritus John Weinman, leader of the Therapeutic Adherence Research Group (2017).
She is a lecturer and a researcher at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP). Her main area of research is the development of health interventions for application in people with chronic diseases and, in particular, with chronic pain. She is the author of books and book chapters, as well as articles published in leading scientific journals.
