The psychoactive groups of “Together We Stand: Juntos na Doença Renal project developed under the scope of CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research/University of Aveiro, will have a fourth edition, planned for the first week of May.

This initiative focuses on helping people undergoing hemodialysis treatment as well as their families, and it is entirely free. The aim is to “facilitate the development of strategies that allow people to live beyond the disease, treatments and their implications, despite the difficulties they face daily”.

As explained by the researchers led by Daniela Figueiredo (CINTESIS/University of Aveiro), “psychoeducational support is a type of group intervention (of short duration) involving structured sessions, which help people to manage emotions and to develop effective coping strategies. These sessions also aim to facilitate communication within the family, to promote contact between the patient or his/her family and the health team, and improve support networks within and outside the family”.

Registration is online and the deadline is April 24. Places are limited.

More information is available on the official page of the project.
