The fact-checking newspaper Polígrafo cites a study developed by researchers at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research published in 2017 about the impact of the liberalization of abortion in Portugal and its effect on abortion trends at the national level.”

According to this study, and according to the newspaper, “before liberalization, each abortion led to approximately one hospitalization, while after liberalization this trend changed to approximately 10% of the number of abortions.”
