VirtualCare, a company born from CINTESIS and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), has received the Certification of Suitability from the National Innovation Agency (ANI).

The application for the Certification of Suitability was submitted in January of this year and confirmed in April by the ANI. This ID Seal recognizes “the professional competence of VirtualCare to practice Research and Development (R&D) activities in the technical and scientific domain of ICT applied to Health”.

“The recognition of scientific suitability granted by the ANI to VirtualCare is an important milestone in the recognition of the quality and innovation of the company in the sector of ICT applied to Health,” reacts the spin-off of CINTESIS and FMUP, and spin-off of the University of Porto.

With this certification, VirtualCare consolidates its position as a leader in the sector and expands its collaboration and growth possibilities in the health technology research and development market.

According to ANI, this Seal also allows VirtualCare to “differentiate itself from the competition, establish new partnerships in R&D projects and access funding from R&D support funds”.

VirtualCare is a company dedicated to the development of innovative and quality clinical applications, as well as consulting and training. It has developed several innovative projects and products in the Healthcare area, namely ObsCare WCR, Safebreast, PMA – Medically Assisted Procreation, SIRAI – Medically Assisted Procreation and E4Nursing – Nursing Education.

Result of the fusion between academia and clinical practice, VirtualCare was created by a group of researchers from the areas of Medicine, Computer Science and Management. With Tiago Costa as CEO, it had as cofounders Altamiro da Costa Pereira, coordinator of CINTESIS and current director of the FMUP, and Ricardo Correia, a researcher at CINTESIS and professor at the FMUP.
