The project MAMMO3D has been granted the Med.Ideas 2019 Award (Cancer category), a prize aimed at the most innovative ideas in the medical technology field.

The research team, based at CINTESIS, is responsible for the development of a tool capable of establishing the tridimensional location of breast lesions based on a mammography. The degree of uncertainty of such location is low and the results help to improve the planning of the interventions for removal of such lesions.

As referred in the journal Viva!, “the objective is to improve the quality of life of women who have undergone breast surgery, and reduce the costs associated to such interventions”. Read more here.
