A Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade do Porto (FMUP) vai homenagear os médicos que estiveram na frente do combate à COVID-19, através da apresentação da exposição “Conforto e Amor”, da artista Isabel Saraiva.
A iniciativa, que decorre entre os dias 24 e 26 de setembro, no átrio do Centro de Investigação Médica (CIM), na FMUP, tem o apoio do CINTESIS – Centro de Investigação em Tecnologias e Serviços de Saúde e da UNESCO/Cátedra UNESCO de Bioética (Universidade de Haifa).
“Com esta exposição, a FMUP pretende homenagear todos os médicos que, durante esta terrível pandemia pelo coronavírus, se dedicaram sem reservas ao tratamento dos doentes COVID-19”, diz Altamiro da Costa Pereira, diretor desta Faculdade.
Para o responsável, esta é “uma iniciativa de elementar justiça”, além de se constituir como “um incentivo aos estudantes de medicina para que vejam neste exemplo os fundamentos de uma ética médica milenar”.
O diretor da FMUP considera que “a medicina e a arte são parte de um todo indissociável” e diz que “iniciativas culturais” como esta serão “sempre bem-vindas”, pois contribuem para “a promoção de uma sociedade mais inclusiva e de uma medicina ainda mais humanizada”.
Rui Nunes, Comissário da Exposição, afirma que este é “o reconhecimento público” do trabalho desenvolvido pelos médicos, que, “honrando a sua profissão, estiveram sempre ao lado dos mais vulneráveis, pela doença, pela idade ou pela exclusão social”.
O professor da FMUP e investigador do CINTESIS considera que esta é “a melhor aula possível de ética médica”.
A artista Isabel Saraiva é natural do Porto. Licenciou-se em Artes Plásticas, foi docente, apresentou-se em cerca de 150 exposições individuais e coletivas em vários países e ilustrou várias obras literárias. Já em 2020, executou uma obra de homenagem aos profissionais de saúde pela luta contra a COVID-19 para o Hospital Miliar D. Pedro V. Está representada em diversas coleções e recebeu vários prémios.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP) will honor the doctors who were in charge of combating COVID-19, through the presentation of the exhibition “Conforto e Amor” (comfort and love), by the artist Isabel Saraiva.
The initiative, which runs from September 24 to 26, in the lobby of the Medical Research Center (CIM), at FMUP, has the support of CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and of UNESCO/UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (University of Haifa).
“With this exhibition, FMUP intends to honor all doctors who during this terrible pandemic caused by the coronavirus dedicated themselves willingly to the treatment of COVID-19 patients”, says Altamiro da Costa Pereira, director of this Faculty.
For the official, this is “an elementary justice initiative”, in addition to constituting “an incentive for medical students to see in this example the foundations of medical ethics”.
The director of FMUP considers that “medicine and art are part of an inseparable whole” and says that “cultural initiatives” like this will be “always welcome”, as they contribute to “the promotion of a more inclusive society and an even more humanized medicine ”.
Rui Nunes, the exhibition commissioner, says that this is “the public recognition” of the work developed by doctors, who “honor their profession by always being on the side of the most vulnerable due to illness, age or social exclusion”.
The professor at FMUP and researcher at CINTESIS considers this to be “the best possible medical ethics class”.
The artist Isabel Saraiva is from Porto. She graduated in Fine Arts, has worked as a teacher, participated in around 150 individual and collective exhibitions in several countries, and has illustrated several literary works. In 2020, she created a piece in honor of health professionals who fight against COVID-19 for the Militar Hospital D. Pedro V. Her work is present in several collections and she has received several awards.
