In Portugal, near 400 persons live with a rare and chronic disease that makes it difficult to process certain foods. We are taking about Phenylketonuria. Júlio César Rocha, a researcher at CINTESIS, has began a study to evaluate the sucess of treatment of this disease. The researcher explains to the Porto Canal that the investigation aims at “evaluating the impact, over a 10 years period, of the nutritional treatment that is initiated in patients with phenylketonuria, and understand if that impact adds certains risks to their health rather than contributing to some protecting role.”
