CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research is participating in the Portuguese Science and Technology meeting – Encontro Ciência 2021, which will take place on June 28th, 29th, and 30th, in a hybrid format (in-person and online).
This year’s theme is “Science that makes tomorrow and transforms the economy”, fitting into the context in which we currently live in Portugal, Europe, and the world, in the face of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The coordinator of CINTESIS and director of the Faculty of Medicine of Porto University (FMUP), Altamiro da Costa Pereira, will be present as moderator of the Thematic Session entitled “Health Sciences – Telemedicine, Computational Biology and Medical Applications“, scheduled for June 30, between 2 pm and 3:30 pm, in Room 5A of the Lisbon Congress Center. David Braga Malta, Marta Oliveira, and Paulo M. Alves are the Meeting’s organizers.
This edition will also count on the participation of a group of CINTESIS researchers from the three Research Lines: Preventive Medicine & Societal Challenges; Clinical and Translational Research, Data, Decision & Information Technology Science.
CINTESIS’ researchers, based in different poles (namely the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto, the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto, and the University of Aveiro), will present a total of 15 scientific posters, this time in virtual format.
Ana Filipa Oliveira, André Valente Rodrigues, Bruno Bessa, Daniela Ferreira-Santos, Diana Duarte, Helena Sousa, Joana Marques, Joana Santos, Lígia Passos, Mariana Oliveira, Mariana Santos, Patrícia Alves, Renato Ferreira da Silva, Rosa Andias and Rui Valdiviesso are the FCT doctoral students/scholarship holders who will show results of the work developed within their respective projects, under the supervision of CINTESIS researchers.
The topics of the papers include, for example, dementia, heart failure, renal replacement therapy, malaria, oropharyngeal dysphagia, neurodegenerative disorders, cognitive rehabilitation in cancer survivors, obstructive sleep apnea, frailty among the elderly, and adverse drug reactions.
