CINTESIS will be present at the 20th Exhibition of the University of Porto, which will take place from 20 to 23 April at the Pavilhão Multiusos of Gondomar.
Throughout four days, CINTESIS, which is a member of the Associate Laboratory RISE, will join other research centres, the 14 faculties and other services of the U.Porto, to show their education and reserach offer to the middle and high school students who will visit the space. On the central stage, several researchers will give lectures on topics related to their work.
On April 20, at 12h, Elisa Keating, principal investigator of ProNutri, a research group of CINTESIS, and professor at FMUP, will give a lecture on “Iodine in pregnancy: myths and realities”. At 15h50, it will be the turn of Juliana Guimarães, a CINTESIS researcher and FMUP PhD student, to speak about “Environmental pollutants in pregnancy”.
Rute Sampaio, a researcher from CINTESIS/FMUP, will be on the central stage of the Exhibition on April 21, at 11h30, with a presentation entitled “Chronobiology: Impact of dysregulation on students“.
At 12h30, it will be Cátia Pinheiro’s turn, a CINTESIS/FMUP researcher in the Metabolism area, who will present “VeggieNutri, the first national study with vegetarians“. Francisco Sampaio and Carlos Sequeira, also from CINTESIS, will present, at 15h00, a lecture on “Mental Health: knowledge and strategies“.
On the same day, at 17h00, Susana Silva, a CINTESIS researcher in the field of Neurosciences and a professor at FMUP, will explain “What is brain health and why it is so important“.
On April 22, at 12h, Cristina Costa Santos, principal investigator of BioData: Biostatistics & Intelligent Data Analysis, of CINTESIS/FMUP, will focus on “Evidence in Health: A scientific study said that“, explaining how clinical research is done and how scientific results are communicated at different levels.
On the last day of the Exhibition, Paulo Santos, the principal investigator of PrimeCare, a CINTESIS group in the field of Primary Health Care, and a professor at the FMUP will take the stage to speak about “Young people and health services“. It will be at 12h15.
Visitors will also be challenged to participate in a game that will test their knowledge in different research areas developed in the R&D Unit, such as Mental Health, Food, Heart and Cancer. The best players will have the opportunity to win several prizes.
This year’s edition of the Exhibition of the University of Porto will be opened from 10h00 to 19h00 on Thursday and Friday. At the weekend, it opens at 11h00 and closes at 19h00 (on Saturday) and 18h00 (on Sunday). Admission is free of charge.
