Carlos Martins, a researcher at CINTESIS – Center for Health Technology and Services Research and professor at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Porto (FMUP), has written an opinion article in the newspaper Público about the need for citizens to be more involved in decision making regarding their own health.

“It is desirable that the paternalistic model is replaced by a model of consultation centered on the person and in which the decision-making process is that of shared medical decision,” says the specialist.
